Hi, we’re Kati and Ben.

We bought our first home – a cozy fixer-upper with peeling paint, overgrown bushes, and a kitchen straight out of the 1970s – and honestly? We had no idea what we were doing. But we rolled up our sleeves, watched too many YouTube tutorials, made plenty of mistakes, and slowly, piece by piece, turned that tired little house into a home we actually love.

That journey changed everything for us.

We discovered that we didn’t need endless budgets or professional credentials. We just needed curiosity, patience, and a willingness to get our hands dirty. Whether it was Ben learning to build a dining table from scratch or Kati figuring out how to keep her first fiddle leaf fig alive (spoiler: it took three tries), every project taught us something new – and brought us closer together.

Today, HugoFurniturePlace.com is our little corner of the internet where we share everything we’ve learned along the way. From DIY furniture builds and room makeovers to vegetable gardening tips and seasonal decorating ideas, we cover it all. We believe that creating a beautiful home shouldn’t feel intimidating – it should feel fun, rewarding, and totally achievable.

We’re passionate about indoor plant care, homesteading dreams, small-space solutions, and making our outdoor living area feel like an extension of our home. We love the smell of fresh soil, the satisfaction of a perfectly hung shelf, and the way string lights can transform any patio into magic.

But more than anything, we love this community. Whether you’re a first-time homeowner, a seasoned DIYer, or someone who just wants to grow a single tomato plant on their balcony – you belong here.

So grab a cup of coffee, poke around our blog, and don’t be afraid to get a little messy. We’re right there with you, mud on our boots and paint on our hands.

Welcome to our home.
